PHOTOGRAPHING HOLIDAY LIGHTS AND DECORATIONS

Have fun and learn to take great photos of all the beautiful holiday lights and decorations at this special time of year. In this class we will explore lots of different ways to photograph holiday displays. We will cover shooting light shows at night, outdoor decorations around the home, setting up holiday themed shots and composing compelling detail shots of ornaments and treasures.

Our goal with this class is to enjoy the season and capture some of the beauty it has to offer. Get out and enjoy the light shows, parades, displays at shopping centers, decorated homes in your neighborhood and more intimate scenes that can be found nearly everywhere you look. You don't have to go out at night but you'll get great photos if you are willing to brave the cold and get out there and shoot at dusk and beyond.

REQUIREMENTS

• There are no requirements beyond having a digital camera and a willingness to go out and have fun taking some photos.
• Point and shoot cameras are fine for this class.
• A tripod will be very helpful for night shots.
• No complaining about the weather! Be ready to get tough and get out there and take some great photos.

HOW IT WORKS

• You will receive a reminder email on the course start date when your lesson is ready.
• This course includes one written lesson in PDF format consisting of our best photography tips, detailed instructions and a photo assignment.
• You will have two weeks including two weekends to work on your assignment.
• You can ask questions, post work in progress, ask for help or chat with your classmates or instructors as you work on your assignment. We are here to help and a lively discussion makes the class a richer experience for everyone.
• After shooting the assignment you will upload your photos to the website by the due date and we will critique your photos and give you helpful advice and tips.
• The class is open for a month and we can answer any follow up questions you have after the critiques.
