In this class we will have fun playing with photo effects and getting artistic in Photoshop. You can use existing work and explore some new ideas while we wait impatiently for spring.

This class includes 8 different photo effects that make use of lots of Photoshop skills like layers, filters and masks to name a few. You will definately be flexing your Photoshop muscles and giving them a workout. Each of these effects has a video lesson to show you how to create it and written notes to help you as you work.

We will cover 4 photo effects in each lesson.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You need Adobe Photoshop. Any version Photoshop CS3 or newer or Photoshop Elements 7 or newer will work. A current version is best. If you are an Elements user please consider upgrading to Elements 10 because it has layer masks. Videos are made using Photoshop CS5. If you don't have a current version of Photoshop, there is a free trial download of Photoshop available on www.adobe.com.
  • You will need a basic working knowledge of Photoshop. This class does not cover the very most basics of Photoshop. You should know how to open, resize and save your photos at a minimum.
  • You will need to be a little resourceful and willing to look in your Photoshop Help menu occassionally.
  • This class is taught via videos with written notes. You will need a high speed Internet connection to view the videos. Not suitable for dial up users.
  • You may use existing photos for this course. There is no shooting required.

HOW IT WORKS

  • You will receive the first lesson on the course start date.
  • This class includes two comprehensive lessons in video format with written notes in PDF format and two assignments. You will have two weeks including two weekends to work on each assignment.
  • After completing each assignment you will upload your photos to the website.
  • Your instructor reviews your photos within 3 days of the assignment due date and offers constructive comments.
  • You can ask questions and discuss ideas with your teachers and classmates.
